FUTURE TENSES STRUCTURE

FUTURE SIMPLE WILL Structure

  • Affirmative: subject + will + verb (infinitive) Ex. I will go to New York next year
  • Negative: subject + will not (won't)+ verb (infinitive) Ex. She won't pass the exam
  • Interrogative: will + subject + verb (infinitive) Ex. Will she call you later?

BE GOING TO Structure

  • Affirmative: subject + am/is/are + going to+ verb (infinitive) Ex. I'm going to go to Malaga tomorrow
  • Negative: subject + am/is/are not + going to+ verb (infinitive) Ex. She isn't going to buy the shoes.

AFFIRMATIVE Imperative

  • Use the infinitive without "to" for the 2nd person singular (you)
    • Shut up!
    • Sit down!
  • Use let's + infinitive without to for the 2nd person plural.
    • Let's go to the operating room.

NEGATIVE Imperative

  • Use "don't" followed by the infinitive without "to" for the 2nd person singular (you)
    • Don't be afraid of the dark.
    • Don't keep gloves once you have used them.
