The Urinary System and Integrated Nutrition Process by Colegio Estudiantes

Slides from Colegio Estudiantes about The Urinary System. The Pdf, a presentation for Elementary school Science students, explains the functions of urinary organs and how digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and urinary systems work together, as outlined in "The Integrated nutrition process" and "Human Nutrition process" sections.

Human Nutrition Process

Human nutrition is a complex process carried out by the
organs of four different systems: digestive, respiratory, circulatory and
urinary.
These four systems work together to provide nutrients and oxygen to
each and every one of the cells in our body and remove the waste
the cells produce.

Circulatory and Digestive System Functions

The circulatory system
uses blood to distribute
nutrients and oxygen
to all the cells in the
body and pick up
the waste products
the cells generate,
including the carbon
dioxide from cellular
respiration.

The digestive
system processes
the foods and
extracts nutrients
in order to transfer
them to the
bloodstream.

Respiratory and Urinary System Functions

The respiratory
system gets oxygen
from the air and
takes it into the
bloodstream. It also
gets rid of the carbon
dioxide in the blood.

The urinary system
filters the blood
and extracts
waste products
other than carbon
dioxide from it.
When it does that,
it produces urine
to remove these
substances from
the body.

A Healthy Diet

  • A diet is the food a personal
    usually eats.
  • A healthy diet (or balanced diet)
provides the right amount of each
    nutrient

Balanced Diet Principles

  1. Avoid too much sugar and fats
  2. Eat High-Fiber foods: we need fiber
to make it easier for food to pass
    through the digestive tract.
  3. Eat varied foods : our diet must
    combine different kind of foods,
    especially fruits, vegetables, cereals,
fish , meat and protein-rich foods
  4. Frequency of meals throughout the
    day

Other Healthy Habits for Body Systems

Apart from having a balanced diet, which is beneficial for all systems, these are the
main healthy habits for each system:

Digestive System Habits

Digestive system
· Wash your hands before
a meal to avoid diseases
from being transmitted.
. Brush your teeth after
each meal.
· Eat slowly, chewing
the food well before
swallowing it.

Circulatory System Habits

Circulatory system
· Have an active lifestyle
and do moderate physical
activity.
. Avoid any contact with
tobacco or alcohol.
· Maintain your weight
within the intervals
recommended by the
health authorities for each
age and sex.

Urinary System Habits

Urinary system
· Get enough water, either
through drinking or eating
foods.
· Avoid eating too much salt
with your food.
· Maintain proper personal
hygiene.3

Respiratory System Habits

Other healthy habits
Respiratory system
. Avoid contact with smoke from cigarettes.
· Air out your rooms and prevent the smoke, dust, and pollen from building up.
. To filter the air, breathe through your nose rather than through your mouth.
· Use disposable tissues if you have a cold or flu to avoid transmitting the diseases.
