  1. To talk about routines. (Hablar de rutinas) Ex. I go to work every day.
  2. Permanent situations & facts. (Situaciones permanentes y hechos) Ex. I live in Barcelona.
  3. Schedules (horarios o que ocurren siempre a la misma hora) Ex. The train to Paris leaves at 3 p.m. tomorrow

It depends on the subject (depende del sujeto):

AFFIRMATIVE : subject + verb +object

(Si el sujeto es 3ª persona del singular(he/she/it) añadimos -s/-es) + I /we /they eat pizza every Saturday + He/she/it eats pizza every Saturday

NEGATIVE: subject +don't/doesn't + verb +object

(Si el sujeto es 3ª persona del singular (he/she/it) usamos doesn't en lugar de don't) - I don't eat pizza every Saturday - He/she /it doesn't eat pizza every Saturday

INTERROGATIVE: Do/Does + subject + verb + object

Con adverbios de frecuencia de una palabra (se coloca antes del verbo): always (siempre) usually (normalmente) Ex. I often (a menudo) work with Mary. rarely (rara vez) never (nunca) EXCEPCIÓN: VERBO "TO BE". Ex. You are always late!

Con complementos de tiempo que se componen de mas de una palabra (se coloca al final de la frase): everyday. once /twice /3,4, 5 times a day. Ex.I work with Mary once /twice /3,4, 5 times a month. once /twice /3,4, 5 times a year in the mornings/ afternoons / evenings. It doesn't depend on the subject (no depende del sujeto)

AFFIRMATIVE : subject + verb in the past

Ex. I worked 9 hours last Monday.

NEGATIVE: subject + did not + verb (infinitive)

Ex. I didn't go to the cinema with them last weekend.

INTERROGATIVE: Did + subject + verb (infinitive)

Ex. Did you go to the cinema last Sunday?

  1. Complete actions (acciones terminadas) or past states. Ex. Yesterday I worked 8 hours. Ex. I lived in London in 2008.

PAST SIMPLE VERBS FORM

REGULAR VERBS

For regular verbs: - add -ed to the root form of the verb. ex.Play->Played; Listen->Listened -add -d if the root form already ends in an "e": ex. Love->Loved; Type->Typed Doubling the consonant: 1. Stopped - (1 syllable ended in consonant/vowel/consonant) 2. Travelled - (2 syllables, 1st syllable stressed , ended in "L") 3. Preferred - (2 syllables, 2nd syllable stressed , ended in "R")

IRREGULAR VERBS

  1. Expresar acciones o estados que estaban llevándose a cabo en el pasado cuando otra acción o estado la interrumpe o refuerza. Por ejemplo: ·I was walking when I saw an eagle (Estaba caminando cuando vi un águila).
  2. Ofrecer contexto, es decir, dar información sobre hechos o situaciones en un tiempo específico. ·Last year, I was studying for the exams (El año pasado, estaba estudiando para los exámenes)
