PASSING

A PASS MUST BE ACCURATE, FAST AND
TACTICALLY USEFUL.

  • Chest pass
  • Overhead pass
  • Bounce pass
    1
  • Wrist or side pass
  • Shoulder pass
    3

RECEIVING

ACCURATE CATCHING IS VERY IMPORTANT AND SMOOTHES
THE GAME.
THE BALL CAN BE RECEIVED TYPICALLY IN THREE POSITIONS:

  • Frontal position
  • Sideways catch
  • Backwards catch

SHOOTING TECHNIQUES

  1. Jump shot: shooting technique performed having the players feet off
    the floor.
  2. Bounced shot: shooting on goal with the ball hitting the floor on its
    way.
  3. Spin shot: the ball changes direction when bounces back from the
    floor.
  4. Underarm shot: shooting with the arm moving below shoulder level.
  5. Overarm shot: shooting with the arm moving above the shoulder level.

BLOCKING

24
Blocking: you try to place one or both hands
in front of the ball. It is used to stop an
attacker's shot at goal or to support the
goalkeeper by covering a part of the goal.
Tackling: by a tackle you attempt to prevent
the opponent from shooting.

FEINTS

BODY FEINTS: ARE PERFORMED MAINLY BY USING THE TRUNK AND
LEGS AND INVOLVE A SHIFT OF BALANCE AND WEIGHT. THIS CAN
TAKE PLACE WITH OR WITHOUT THE BALL. BODY FEINTS ARE USED
TO FREE THE PLAYER
FROM THE OPPONENT AND TO GET A BETTER POSITION FOR
RECEIVING OR PASSING THE BALL.
BALL FEINTS: A BALL FEINT COULD BE IN THE GUISE OF
PRETENDING TO TAKE A PASS OR SHOT, TO OUTWIT AN
OPPONENT AND GAIN AN ADVANTAGE.

DEFENDING

  • Zone Defense: It is the type of defensive system
most used in Handball, in this system each player
has the responsibility to defend in a certain zone of
    the handball court.
  • Individual Defense: This type of defensive system is
based on the specific defense of each player,
regardless of what zone of the court he is
    occupying.

THREE IMPORTANT TYPES OF DEFENSE SYSTEMS IN HANDBALL

6×0
This defense consist in that a
defender has to move behind a
teammate of the same team to
neutralize (or stop) any action of
the attacker, this defense is
important at the time of the pivot.

ATTACKING

  • Offensive transition: This is the movement of players from the backcourt to the attack
court as the team regains ball possession.
  • Direct counterattack: Happens opportunistically and quickly, from a steal or a
technical error from an opponent. Uses speed to attack in numerical superiority.
  • Supported counterattack: Happens when the possession of the ball is recovered from
the defensive tactical organization of the team and the attack begins in an organized
    manner
