James Joyce was born in Dublin in 1882 to a wealthy Catholic family, where his father John Joyce was a supporter of the Irish autonomist party. James Joyce was a brilliant student and attended Dublin University, where he graduated in modern languages in 1902. After he left Dublin because of the political conditions that he thought were hindering his career, he moved to Paris where he met many nationalists of the time. In June 1904 he met Nora Barnacle, with whom he would marry in July 1931, she was a waitress from Galway, and they had their first date together on June 16, 1904, and this day is very important, in fact this will be the date where his most famous work Ulysses is set and corresponds to Bloomsday. Together they left Dublin forever to go to Trieste until 1915, where Joyce met Italo Svevo, and they had 2 children, Giorgio and Lucia. Joyce wrote "The Egoist", "Chamber Music" and "Dubliners" in Trieste. After the beginning of the First World War he moved with his family to Zurich where he wrote "Ulysses", and died in 1941.

James Joyce wrote only a few works: four novels and fifteen short stories, which are collected under the title Dubliners. His four novels are:
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (written in 1916): This is a semi- autobiographical novel that tells the story of a boy growing up, from childhood to adulthood. The book is also known as Dedalus, after the name of the protagonist, who is the author's alter ego.
Ulysses, Joyce's most famous work: It was originally meant to be part of Dubliners, but it later became one of the most important novels of the 20th century. Joyce started writing it in 1914 and finished it seven years later, in 1921. The novel is complex because of the stream of consciousness technique, even though the plot itself is quite simple.
Finnegans Wake: This novel was written after Ulysses and was first published in parts in the magazine transition. However, the writing process slowed down due to Joyce's personal problems. In 1939, the complete book was published under the title Finnegans Wake. The extreme use of the stream-of-consciousness technique was not initially appreciated by readers, who found it difficult to read because of its mix of different languages and new words.
Stephen Hero: This is Joyce's last novel, published after his death. It consists of two parts, one was known from the beginning, while the other was discovered years after the author's death. The novel follows the growth of Stephen Dedalus, exploring his relationship with his brother, his studies, his friends, and his first loves.

DUBLINERS : Dubliners is a collection of short stories about ordinary people from Dublin, describing their daily lives. However, the theme of everyday life is just an excuse to highlight the moral paralysis that affects most of the protagonists, who try to escape from reality. The stories are organized into four sections, each representing a specific stage of life. In these stories, Joyce highlights the low moral standards of the city's inhabitants, using writing techniques that introduce modernism, including the stream-of-consciousness technique.
DUBLINERS JAMES JOYCE
It is a collection of 34 love poems, with two more added before publication. The lyrical style of the verses inspired several composers to create musical adaptations.
It is another collection of poems written between 1904 and 1924. The style of these poems is more complex than the previous collection, as they include many neologisms in Joyce's unique style.
It is a children's story that Joyce originally wrote as a letter to his nephews. The story combines humor and folklore elements. It was later published as an illustrated book in 1964, after Joyce's death.
